چکیده

Abstract. A self-contained turbulence instrument from Rockland Scientific was installed on a light autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) OceanScan Marine Systems and Technology Lda. We report the data quality discuss limitations of dissipation estimated two shear probes during deployment in Barents Sea February 2021. The AUV mission lasted for 5 h, operating at typical horizontal speed 1.1 m s−1. programmed to find cross maximum along-path thermal gradient 10, 20 30 depths along 4 km transects. Although vibrations contaminate probe records, noise is mitigated by removing vibration-induced components spectra using accelerometer signal measured multiple directions. Dissipation rate estimates observed transects varied range 1×10-8 6×10-6 W kg−1, with values orthogonal typically agreement within factor 2. show good nearby vertical microstructure profiles obtained ship transects, indicating that measurements are reliable this relatively turbulent environment. However, lowest rates limited 5×10-8 making setup unfit use quiescent environments.

OPTIMIZED FUZZY CONTROL DESIGN OF AN AUTONOMOUS UNDERWATER VEHICLE

In this study, the roll, yaw and depth fuzzy control of an Au- tonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) are addressed. Yaw and roll angles are regulated only using their errors and rates, but due to the complexity of depth dynamic channel, additional pitch rate quantity is used to improve the depth loop performance. The discussed AUV has four aps at the rear of the vehicle as actuators. Two rule bases...

Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Systems

To understand the physical and biological relationships often requires high resolution sampling far exceeding present capabilities. If spatially adaptive sampling can be developed, data resolution can be greatly improved over that presently possible with conventional sensor platforms. One technique to achieve both spatially and temporally adaptive sampling is an Autonomous Oceanographic Samplin...

Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Navigation

This paper surveys the problem of navigation for autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs). Marine robotics technology has undergone a phase of dramatic increase in capability in recent years. Navigation is one of the key challenges that limits our capability to use AUVs to address problems of critical importance to society. Good navigation information is essential for safe operation and recovery o...

Measurements under Fimbulisen Using an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle

Antarctic ice shelves are the floating extensions of the Antarctic Ice Sheet, covering around 40% of the continental shelf. The cavities beneath the ice shelves are important to the climate system through their contribution to the production of the globally important Antarctic Bottom Water. However, they remain some of the most difficult areas of the world ocean to access. Many of the processes...

Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Hull Geometry Optimization Using a Multi-objective Algorithm Approach

Abstarct In this paper, a new approach to optimize an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) hull geometry is presented. Using this methode, the nose and tail of an underwater vehicle are designed, such that their length constraints due to the arrangement of different components in the AUV body are properly addressed. In the current study, an optimal design for the body profile of a torpedo-shaped...
